Hi,

I want to send SMS and MMS messages using Verizon in the USA. Is there a GSM modem that will work on Verizon?

Verizon does not use GSM, it uses CDMA and LTE.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

You can use an Android phone as a modem with NowSMS. This will allow you to send and receive both SMS and MMS messages. Of course, the Android phone needs to be compatible with Verizon's CDMA and/or LTE networks, and be activated on the Verizon network.

LTE will offer significantly better performance for sending and receiving MMS.

A quick start guide for configuring NowSMS to work with an Android phone as a modem can be found here:

NowSMS supports Android devices running versions between 2.3 (Gingerbread) and 4.4 (Kit Kat), including the Ice Cream (4.0/4.1) and Jelly Bean (4.2/4.3) versions.

P.S. - In the past, we have had customers use dedicated CDMA modem devices from Multitech, but these hare only worked for SMS, not MMS, and they could not support long text messages more than 160 characters. An Android phone as a modem is a much better on the Verizon network, and the MMS performance on LTE is extremely fast.
