I have installed NowSMS 2013.11.15 version on Windows Server 2012 R2 SP1.
Everything seems okay but after some time it stops receiving sms messages.

-When i restart service nothing changes.
-When i reboot server it starts working again as expected.

I have configured two servers and i've experienced same issue.

Does anybody has any suggestions?

Hi ,

What is the SMSC connection?

Does the SMSIN-yyyymmdd.LOG show messages continuing to be received?

I use HUAWEI 3G GSM Modems for SMSC connections.
There is nothing in the SMSIN*.log.

Additional information, same configuration type works on old servers.

Apologies for the delay in response.

There are a few odd things in that log. The "Error - 1F" reported when sending a message is very odd. Everything works, because NowSMS essentially ignores the error and keeps waiting. But the error indicates that Windows is reporting a general failure with the modem device.

I don't believe that this error is the problem...it is just odd.

The other issue that I can see is that some type of error is occurring while polling the modem. As a result, there are some extra modem tests being logged. The tests are ok, but it is not clear what error is occurring.

Here's what I'd suggest.

1.) Edit SMSGW.INI, and under the [SMSGW] header, add DebugModemPoll=Yes. This will add a lot more info to the SMSDEBUG.LOG so we can see what errors are being reported when polling the modem.

2.) In the properties of the modem in NowSMS, set SMS Message Storage to SIM card. (This seems to work best with Huawei modems.)

3.) Is the Huawei Mobile Partner software active and running? I am reminded of this article: http://www.nowsms.com/sms-and-mms-with-the-huawei-e160-usb-modem

In those tests, we found that there were reliability problems with a Huawei modem (especially related to receiving messages), when the Mobile Partner software was NOT running.

Keep in mind that the Huawei software was no designed for seder environments. And in that article, we talk about actually having to configure Windows to auto-login so the Huawei software will run at startup.

4.) Consider using an Android phone as a modem with the newer version of NowSMS. NowSMS talks to the Android device over TCP/IP, so there are no issues with having to deal with drivers and software from the modem manufacturer.
