I just got this reply back from Verizon: "We do not allow A2P messaging using 10-digit numbers. All these messages should be delivered via shortcode." I've just asked Verizon for clarification - if they would allow a company with, say a few hundred employees out on the road - maintenance engineers, or a sales force etc. - to receive SMS updates from head office via a PC and modem. Or if a company always have to send through an aggregator. How could a carrier determine the difference between a person sending an SMS, and an application sending an SMS, say one every second?
