Hi,

NowSMS ver 2014.06.30

We setup a Local User "YYY" for an SMPP client connecting to NowSMS.
We have 3 SMSC connections and we wanted all messages from YYY to go through the Link3.

So we added "YYY" to "Preferred SMSC connecion for" list of Link3 and other users to Link1 and Link2. Link1 being the default SMSC Link, "Support any outbound message traffic" was checked while this was not checked for Link2 and Link3.
We noticed that all messages from "YYY" and other users were queued up and not being sent out.

Once we checked "Support any outbound message traffic" for all SMSC connections and kept the "Allowed User" list as mentioned above, all worked fine.

We were under the impression that ""Support any outbound message traffic" was only to be used for the default Link(s), and other links would route messages depending on the value in "Preferred SMSC connection for" (User/number/number wild cards).

Appreciate if you could clarify this.

Hi Mathew,

It is a little confusing.

When a user account is added to the "Preferred SMSC connection for" list, this has the effect of enabling the "allowed user only" logic on that connection.

Only allowed users can send through the connection, but other preferred list settings still apply, but only to allowed users.

So if there are no prefix wild cards, and "Support any outbound message traffic" is not checked, only messages from an allowed user with a sender address match would get routed to the connection.

Check "Support any outbound message traffic", and the connection will become a default for the allowed users only.
