Hi, I got problem with the modem connection. I need to make sure that the modem are able to connect 24/7. But I noticed that, it always received "unable to connect to NowSMS modem" error. I've enabled the battery usage for nowSMS modem, but the problem still persist. Do you have any suggestion on how to make sure nowSMS connect with the modem all the time?

Hi, I would suggest changing the connectivity mode to Remote Direct (although in this case it should be called local direct). In this mode, the app on the phone maintains a constant connection to the NowSMS server, and automatically reconnects if it drops. -bn Bryce Norwood NowSMS/MMS Support

Hi, Well...2 possibilities come to mind. 1. Pressing Cancel instead of Save 2. Leaving the NowSMS server blank...if you do not specify an IP address or host name for the NowSMS server, the client reverts to local mode. -bn Bryce Norwood Now SMS/MMS Support

Hi, Yes, you are right. After I set the IP address for NowSMS Server in modem, the status is 'Connected'. But, after a few hours it show Failure : No response from NowSMS modem. May I know why?

When you see this error, does the client still say "Connected"? Where do you see "Failure : No response from NowSMS modem"? In the logs/recent activity? Or as a current status? If it is in the logs/recent activity... Is it repeated over and over again every 1-3 minutes, or only occasionally? If only occasionally and the client reports "Connected", then that should not be a problem...as the client automatically reconnects if it gets disconnected. You say that you have enabled battery usage. Is the device connected to power? If not then 24/7 access may be a problem. By default, many devices go into power saving mode and shut down WiFi periodically to save battery. By default, when there is no activity, NowSMS and the client exchange some data to verify they are still connected. No activity for 3 minutes could cause a device to decide that it is ok to shut down, or go into power saving mode if the wireless access point supports it. Decreasing this check interval to show more activity might prevent this. Under the [SMSGW] header of SMSGW.INI, try ModemAppCheckInterval=30 ... this will change the interval to 30 seconds instead of the default 180 seconds (3 minutes). -bn Bryce Norwood Now SMS/MMS Support

When you see this error, does the client still say "Connected"? Yes. Where do you see "Failure : No response from NowSMS modem"? In the logs/recent activity? Or as a current status? From NowSMS/MMS Gateway, software that installed in PC. Below is sample of error:- SMSC Status : Error phone1(NowSMSModem - phone1): Failure - No response from NowSMS modem phone1 I try to send SMS when it show error "Failure : No response from NowSMS modem", seems like not received the SMS until I open the device(unlock screen). May I know, what is the maximum figure we can set for ModemAppCheckInterval? Can we put 72hours?

I assume you do not see this "Connected" until you unlock the device. Is the device connected to power? What model is the device? It sounds like the device is going into a power saving mode and turning off WiFi. Is the device connected to power? If keeping the device plugged in to power is not practical, you could use "remote via cloud". When WiFi turns off, the device will use cellular data to connect to your NowSMS server through the cloud.
Please reread my earlier reply. You want to decrease this value...as in lower...smaller...shorter time period. I recommended trying 30 seconds. A setting of 72 hours would not help this problem. -bn Bryce Norwood Now SMS/MMS Support |
