Hi team, I finally secured the SMPP connections from my service provider and all the connections are okay. However, when I try sending a test message, I get an error of “Invalid Destination Address” I tried changing the test phone number by omitting the country code, the “0” prefix etc but with no success. Anything that might be the issue?

Hi Roy, It looks like you've tried most of what I would try. The next step would be to look more closely at the source/sender address. By default, NowSMS is going to use the "Sender Address" that is configured for the SMPP SMSC connection. Did your provider give rules about what they allow as the source address? -- Des NowSMS Support

Hi Des, the sender address configured for my SMPP SMSC connection is an Alphanumeric Short Code. Could that be an issue or is there a particular configuration I need to set on my gateway to get the Alphanumeric working? Kind regards, Roy

Hi Roy, If your sender address contains any non-numeric characters, by default, NowSMS will automatically set source TON to 5 and source NPI to 0. These are the expected SMPP values to indicate an alpha sender. If a numeric short code of 5 digits or less is used, NowSMS will automatically set source TON to 3 and source NPI to 0. These are the expected SMPP values to indicate a shortcode sender. In some scenarios, it may be necessary to override TON or NPI values, which can bee configured under SMPP advanced settings. Did your provider give any guidance as to TON or NPI settings? And did your provider confirm that you can use an alpha sender? -- Des NowSMS Support |
