Hi,
I'm having problems with a Samsung Sgh-E700 and NowSms. I have an error msg "Modem does not support PDU mode".??
Is there a solution to avoid this message?

Thank you

Unfortunately, it is likely that the modem does not support SMS PDU mode. This mode is required for being able to send binary SMS messages ... but NowSMS sends all messages, including text messages, in this mode.

We issue the following commands to test the modem:

AT+CSMS=0
AT+CMGF=0

It sounds like that device is returning an error in response to AT+CMGF=0, indicating that it does not support SMS PDU mode. If that is the case, there isn't anything I can do about it. We are considering a text only implementation, but at present we require SMS PDU mode of any GSM modems.

Well. You can check out the phones supporting the PDU format. This website is quite informative. www.usbdeveloper.com.

That is a good resource, thanks.

Also, just a follow-up note on this issue.

There is a recent update to NowSMS (post v5.51 release), where we have added support for modems that do not support PDU mode.

They can be used for sending SMS text messages only, of course (no binary messages, no WAP Push, etc.).
