Hello,

i installed Now SMS/MMS server trial version 5.51 and i use it with a Wavecom modem that has only GSM subscription (not GPRS/WAP). Is it possible to send a WAP Push message to another device using this configuration? When i click "Submit" on the relevant page (Send WAP Push Message) nothing happens. I appreciate your help, thank you.

Yes, you should not need a GPRS subscription to send such a message.

Are you ok sending regular text messages?

What does the SMSOUT-yyyymmdd.LOG show when you send a WAP Push message?

Also, what type of phone are you sending the WAP push message to? A few phones have some odd quirks ... I recall one that ignored push messages if the text field was blank (so be sure to include some text in addition to the URL).

Also, the SonyEricsson P800/P900 don't display push messages until you go into the WAP browser on the phone.

Thank you for your assistance.
The problem solved by changing ... the web browser! When i'm using Firefox the web interface in "Send WAP Push Message" does not work ok. It works only in IE...
Testing SI push message works ok now. But SL messages do not reach recipient. Recipient must have GPRS/WAP subscription for SL message to work?
Here is the log files for the SL message.

OK

I remind you that i dont have GPRS/WAP subscription neither in my GSM Modem (Wavecom Fasttrack) nor in the recipient phone (Nokia 3650).
The operator of the GSM modem is TIM/Greece and the recipient's operator is COSMOTE/Greece.
I can send without problem simple SMS text messages.
The version of the NowSMS server is v5.51(b20040823).

Thank you

Yes, we did have a problem with one of our forms when used under Firefox.

There is a patch described at the following link that includes an updated HTML template:

http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/53/7888.html

WAP Push SL messages are generally not as widely supported as SI.

The problem with SL, is that it was designed to automatically launch the browser on the phone with a URL. And as you can imagine, this could be abused.

So some device manufacturers chose not to implement SL push. Others decided to implement it, but display a message prompting the user whether or not to continue. In this latter case, there is no place to put any text into an SL push, so it becomes more cryptic to the recipient than an SI push which at least can contain some text for the prompt.

That said, someone did just recently point out an encoding error in our SL push format:

And an update for that issue is here:
