Hello,

Can anyone give any insight into setting up a SMS shortcode number with reverse-billing, to work with NowSMS gateway?

Basically you need an SMSC account with an operator (or an aggregator) that can provide those services.

You'd define the account(s) as additional SMSC links in NowSMS. The only difference is that you would uncheck "Support any outbound message traffic" for any premium rate accounts. You define a "Sender Address" in NowSMS for the account, and when you submit a message that you want to be routed out via one of the premium rate accounts, you would submit it to NowSMS with a sender address that matches the one configured for the premium rate SMSC account through which you want to send the message.

Here's a good link as a reference to using the sender address for routing:

Many thanks Bryce!

Can you suggest/recommend any operators/aggregators for this SMSC account?

regards
Peter

Peter,

I can't remember if you are in the UK or not.

All of the operators offer this type of connection, but their setup fees tend to be a little high. For example, O2 charges a £5000 setup fee. But if you're going to be doing extremely high volumes, its worth considering.

There are quite a few aggregators that deal with all the UK operators. I'd suggest investigating a number of them. A few that come to mind are MPPGlobal, Netsize, Skymo, and MBlox. (Put a "www." in front of, and a ".com" at the end of any of those names, and you'll get to their web sites.)
