I tried to use the build-in http "send wap push message" to send a url link to my phone. If I put a lot of texts on the TEXT field (probably at least 100 chars) then I will receive a web alert with the URL that I sent. My question is how I could change it so I don't have to put a lot of texts to make sure that I will receive the URL link.

can someone help me to find out? Do I need to add a parameter in the .ini file somewhere?

HELP!

Hi Rice,

I need more information.

I've never heard about such a problem where you had to enter a lot of text in order to receive a web alert. I have seen that some phones require that some text be entered (it can't just be blank), but I have never seen a requirement that it must be longer than a certain length.

Could you enable the debug logs in NowSMS, and send me the SMSDEBUG.LOG and SMPPDEBUG.LOG showing you sending a message that works, and one that does not?

You can either post SMSDEBUG.LOG and SMPPDEBUG.LOG as an attachment to a message here, or send it to nowsms@now.co.uk. If you send to nowsms@now.co.uk, please put "Attention: Bryce" in the subject line, and reference this thread so that I know why you are sending me the log files.

Hi, Bryce,

Sorry for taking so long. I will be working with you in regards to this issue. Here is the logs you requested.

ps. I received the web alert icon on my samsung A600 after the second wap push with a lot of chars included. However, after I viewed the alert message and launched the link, the alert icon still appeared on my phone until I power re-cycle the phone. smpp debug log has been reduced for upload.

Bryce,

Additional note: The minimum text need to be entered is 74 chars and the URL required to have at least 12 chars in order to send a good wap push message to my phone via the web interface that you provided.

Bryce,

The debug logs included only two wap pushes. The first one failed and the second one was good.

Hi.
Please, try to use our on-line ota converter. It can also convert wap push message into proper hex string, http://converter.statsms.net

Hi Dennis,

Sorry, I've lost track of a lot of issues here in the discussion board.

I am at a loss to explain this. There is no reason why this should be the case.

I can see that you're using WDP Adaptation, and it seems that the messages that work are the ones where the push would have spanned 2 SMS messages.

I see "SPATCH" as the SMSC type ... are you using a Hydeco SMSC? We do have other customers using them, but primarily with us as an MMSC, where the WAP Push messages we send are all long MMS notifications. So we'd probably have to open up a Hydeco to figure this out.

Is this your SMSC, or are you an end-user connecting to an operator SMSC? If you are an end-user, can we open a dialog with the operator?

From the debug logs, I don't see anything formatted differently whether the message is short or long.

I should be a better job of keeping on top of the discussion forum again for awhile, but if you want to try to establish a 3-way dialog on this issue with the SMSC vendor, please e-mail nowsms@now.co.uk.
