Hi Crash,

On the Now.WAP "Service" page, do any of the stats change, especially the "Requests" stat?

If not, it is likely that there is an IP connectivity issue in that the proxy is not able to actually receive the request from the handset.

This could happen if the GPRS APN that handset is connecting to does not allow full internet connectivity (meaning that the IP connection that the handset gets when connecting to the GPRS APN is limited to a private network at the mobile operator).

Or it could happen if your proxy is inside of a firewall, and the appropriate ports are not open to allow connections to come in to the proxy.

A WAP proxy listens on UDP ports 9200 and 9201. (Or 9202 and 9203 when WTLS encryption is used.) Normally UDP ports must be configured separately from TCP ports when setting up a firewall.

Port 9200 is used when the phone is configured for connection-less mode (also called connection type = temporary in Nokia phones). Port 9201 is used when the phone is configured for connection-oriented mode (also called connection type = permanent in Nokia phones). FWIW, I advise always using connection-oriented mode (port 9201) for best results.

Crash,

As I re-read your message, perhaps I am mis-interpreting what you are doing.

You say that you "create an incoming connection".

What do you mean by this? Are you configuring Windows to accept a dial-up connection?

If so, what do the Windows logs say about your connection attempt?

Also, I find that it is a good idea to first try connecting in with another PC over the dial-up connection in order to confirm that everything is setup correctly. You'll get better initial feedback about what might be wrong using a PC to attempt the dial-up connection.

Based upon your description, I don't think the connection is getting to the WAP level. I think the dial-up connection is failing.

Try starting the gateway after the incoming connection is made.

I am trying to understand this technology and was wondering if someone can answer the following questions:
1 - when sending video from cell to cell, what port is used and what gets put in the "from field@service.net"? How does the IP addressing work? Is this stuff vendor specific?
2 - what format are the videos sent by cell phones in? Are .3g, .3gp, .3gpp, .3g2 the only cell phone video extensions?
3 - does it matter how video is sent from the cell phone? For instance, is it better to send it "cell to cell" or "cell to cell's email" or "cell's email to cell" or "cell's email to cell's email"?
4 - what size video can be sent from the cell phone? Is this vendor specific?

I appreciate all of your assistance. I am so behind in this technology and wanted to know some things before I run out and purchase a camera cell phone to explore!
