hi,

my service provider doesn't support WAP. But my phone does. My phone is a 6610. Can I use this (now.WAP) as a way to connect to the internet via PC? I have a cable internet connection.

If your service provider has internet connectivity support to allow your phone to make internet connections (GPRS), then a WAP proxy could help you.

(You could also use dial-up.)

It'd probably be a better idea to suggest that your service provider look into Now.WAP ... as there is quite a bit of setup work involved for an individual. (And the cost is probably excessive for an individual.)

Basically, you configure the phone to make an internet connection over GPRS, or over standard PPP dial-up (most regular ISP accounts are PPP based). Then you configure the phone to use the IP address of the WAP proxy as its gateway (difficult if you do not have a dedicated IP).

IP routing issues can be a challenge to sort out.

Seriously, I'd encourage you to suggest that your service provider check out Now.WAP, as it would be pretty easy for them to add to their network.
