Hi all,
I'm developing a TCP multiplayer game for the Nokia 6600. The problem I'm experiencing is as follows: The game works great until some random point (could be after 15 minutes in the game, and could be only after 2...) where the device doesn't send/receive packets... It simply stops communicating with the server... Did anyone encounter this problem and could anyone suggest any solution? Does it have anything to do with the gateway?
Thanks!

Is your game going through a proxy ... are you using HTTP to communicate, or some other TCP based protocol? I wouldn't expect that it would be routed through a proxy without your knowing it.

It could be an issue on your operator network, maybe GPRS is not that stable. (Or something could be going wrong in your app.)

To test to see if the operator's GPRS network is the problem, I'd suggest you use the phone as a modem from a laptop (you'll need a bluetooth adapter).

Generally you dial *99# or *99***x# (where x is a number associated with the context id for the GPRS APN to which you want to connect) to make a GPRS connection via dial-up networking on the PC.

Anyway, try the connection from the PC, and see if you lose connection from the PC in a similar way.

My Nokia 6600 is a nightmare. I had it unlocked from Orange to use when I am overseas with a local sim. Now it flashes up "No MMS access. MMS must be activated to receive messages." I then cancel that and it flashes "No Data". This appears on the screen every minute, and if I do not cancel it it locks the phone and stops incoming calls.

I use it primarily in Cyprus and have no desire to access their poor MMS service. I erased the data as it continued to try to connect to Orange GPRS.

Can you help?
