I'm trying to limit users with the now.wap application. I have tried sending the authentication in the URL a few different ways. I have the username and password setup in now.wap, but my browser keeps telling me a username/password is required. I have searched for information on this and am unable to find anything. Could someone please shed some light. Thank you

Hi,

It's not possible to transmit a username and password in the URL. The reason for this is because Now WAP is a proxy, and it transparently forwards the URL in a client request.

When a proxy server requires a username and password, it uses the HTTP "Proxy-Authenticate:" (server->client) and "Proxy-Authorization:" (client->server) headers.

Some mobile phone clients allow you to configure a username/password for authentication to the proxy (and they build this header automatically). However, Nokia clients are notorious for not supporting this capability, which makes real-world use of this feature awkward.
