I have recently switched to another modem for sending/receiving SMS messages. I can send and I can see inbound messages in the logs. However I do NOT receive the messages to the account specified. I include the config file for reference.
application/octet-stream
SMSGW.INI (0.9 k)

It has now been several weeks since posting intially, and no response. I have even chased up on the phone to the UK agent - and no response. This is not the level of support I expect from NowSMS.

Is there any additional information that is required, I recall there was some known problem with switching modems.

Sorry. The connection between our web site and our internal support tracking system broke down late last month.

I tried to manually locate unanswered questions, but I must have missed yours (I guess I forgot to check the "Lite" section). Your posting just reactivated it.

SMS messages received on your modem should be routed to the SMPP account "test2". And MMS messages should be routed to whatever MM7 details are configured.

Are you talking about inbound SMS messages or MMS messages?

An SMSDEBUG.LOG showing a message being received would help me.

The only thing I could see as being a potential problem is if "SMPP" access is not enabled for the user account "test2".

There could also be a problem if this particular modem does not support the AT+CNUM parameter. The SMSDEBUG.LOG would tell me this. This number is used to set the recipient address for the message. SMPP requires a recipient address, so if this is missing, that can cause a problem for the received message to get routed to a local SMPP user account.

NowSMS Heavy allows you to set a "Phone Number" property to be applied as this recipient address. However, NowSMS Lite relies on the AT+CNUM command.

If this is the problem, you can manually insert the "Phone Number" property by editing SMSGW.INI, and under the [Modem - driver name] section header, adding PhoneNumber=################

ok - the problem was the PhoneNumber entry. Lite obviously relies upon this setting, but there is no place in the console to set this. I seem to recall this is a long standing bug which should really be addressed.

I think the problem is more that this "Teltonika ModemCOM G10" device does not support the AT+CNUM, which would tell us the phone number.

That's why you weren't having any problem with your other modem. You encounter this problem when you change to the Teltonika modem.

I have put in an engineering request to address this issue of routing messages received via a GSM modem to an SMPP client, that if the modem phone number is not available, a dummy value of "1" should be used as the destination address, instead of blocking the message from going to the SMPP client.
