I'm currently using the Lite version.

I would like to mask the sender's mobile number. When the recipient read the SMS or MMS, it shows e.g. Sales Promotion, instead of the sender's mobile number?

Please advise how to go about masking the sender's mobile number?

Many Thanks

Hi Vincent,

Apologies for the delay in response.

When sending an SMS message through any type of GSM modem, it is not technically possible to mask the sender number. The SMS message is sent through the SMSC of the mobile operator to which the modem is connected, and the mobile operator will always apply the phone number associated with the modem as the sender. The same applies to MMS, although on some (few) networks it is possible to bypass the operator MMSC which allows you to put whatever you want as the sender address.

To put a different value in for the sender address, you need to send SMS messages through an SMS provider that allows this. Different SMS providers will have different rules for what is allowed based upon their own policies, policies of the mobile operators to which messages are being sent, and government regulations of the countries involved.

Alphanumeric sender addresses (e.g., "Sales Promotion") used to be far more common years ago, but with many mobile operators, this is no longer allowed.
