We are running a registered version of NowSMS Lite - v2012.06.28

I updated the mobile operator settings using http://www.nowsms.com/download/mmsop.ini

When I try and connect to AT&T - USA at 216.68.79.202:8080 it fails with "Unable to connect to WAP Gateway". The only address that works is the older IP - 66.209.11.61

How can I correct? Thanks.

Hi Mike,

I am investigating, but that looks like an editing mix-up. The gateway address got mixed up with the next operator in the alphabetical list.

I believe the correct setting is:

66.209.11.32:80

An alternate setting is:

66.209.11.61:80

AT&T based MVNOs should use:

66.209.11.33:80

Please confirm with me that the 66.209.11.32:80 address is correct (add the http:// prefix), and I wil get that page and file fixed.

Yes. I can confirm that both 66.209.11.32:80 and 66.209.11.61:80 work.

Is 66.209.11.32:80 the new and preferred setting to use?

Thanks.

66.209.11.32:80 is what AT&T is currently using in new phones.

We would recommend using that address.

66.209.11.61:80 is still referenced in a lot of recent documents, so we would expect it to continue to work for the foreseeable future.

Without the http:// prefix and port, NowSMS uses WAP1 on port 9201. We have seen some operators disconnect these services, and we have had reports of extended outages on WAP1 gateways at other operators, presumably because they are seldom used by current devices, and may not be as well maintained or monitored. So it is a good idea to switch to the WAP2/HTTP gateway settings.
