Hi, I am currently evaluating the product and would like to know if it is possible to send an MMS message through the Operator's MMSC to a Short Code using a GPRS modem. I have heard that this is not possible due to some restrictions with the MSISDN number. Thanks, Joel | |||

Hi Joel, I'm not sure that I understand your question (or at least the way that I understand it might not be what you are asking about). There should not be any problem sending an MMS message through an operator MMSC over a GPRS modem, to a short code. Basically, if you can move the SIM card from the modem to a phone and do it, then you can do the same thing over a GPRS modem. The sender address of the message will be the phone number associated with the SIM in the modem, that cannot be overridden. However, I suspect there is more to your question. If you have a short code for SMS with an operator, the MMS message notification will not be routed to your existing SMS short code. Generally, mobile operators have to register short codes separately on their MMSC, and in that scenario, the MMS messages get routed to you over an MMS specific protocol (such as MM7). -bn |
