Newbie here... we're wanting to develop an service that people can send MMS messages to our web server(maybe a MMS server.. dunno). Example: customer sends pic, audio, text, whatever... to our server via MMS. Then the server takes that info and writes it to a web server that can be viewed and the MMS message can be retrieved(downloaded) to the users PC via any standard web browswer?

Is this possible? Software required? SMS pervice provider required? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thanks guys!

Hi Doug.

You need:
A windows2000 server.
The great nowsms software.
A GPRS enabled modem
A simcard with mms enabled.

All you need to do is install nowsms. Install the modem in nowsms. Configuring nowsms is very simple. A user sends a mms to the number on your simcard. nowsms "unpacks" the mms message and puts it in a folder with all the info you need. All you need to do now is make some scripts that checks the nowsms-mms-in folder for new mms messages.
I have a cool system running where i check every 5 minutes and updates a database. If there is new content i update a xml file so my customers can download the content.

Nowsms is the answer ;-)

Cool.... i've done some reading on this.... few more questions. I'm assuming I need to buy service from a GPRS carrier(probally gonna use Cingular) just like I would a normal phone. I'm also assuming I need some type of service with unlimited GRPS data and unlimited sms/MMS messages. Otherwise i'm going to be charged for every incoming message. Is all of this correct? Or is there another way of doing this that i'm unaware of?

Thanks again for all the help!

Doug :-)

Hi Doug.

You have to buy a service from a carrier. Just like you would if you had a mobilephone and wanted to use GPRS and MMS.

As i undestand it, almost every carrier in the world does NOT charge you any traffic for incoming mms.
