Hi support.

I am currently testing the NowSMS gateway, my MMS configuration is set to 'Direct Delivry' and I read carefully the document especially http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm

NoSMS is connected to a Mobile phone configure to be used as a modem, I can send MMS / SMS using the Web interface so the link between NowSMS and the mobile phone is OK.

In order to be able to download the MMS message I change my mobile configuration to use the WAP GPRS setting to avoid any blocking external URL with the classic APN message.

My problem is that with Nokia phone (7650 or 6600) I never received any message even the MMS notification.
Everything is ok with other phones like SonyEricsson or Samsung.

Do I missed something ?
tx for any information

Bruce,

I have some more news about this problem.
When I am sending an MMS through the web interface I can get it on my Nokia 7650 with no problem (NowSMS as direct delivery and I add a new MMS profile to use the WAP GPRS APN).

So finally my problem is when I send an MMS using the MM7 interface to this Nokia 7650.
I never got the message and apparently I never got the MMS notification as I set as Home URL in my mobile MMS setting a web server where I can check the access_log file.

Again the same NowSMS configuration (MMS as direct delivery) is working well with other mobile phone ...

any clues ?
tx

correction, the Nokia 7650 receives the MMS notification (I can see an access in my access_log) but he never succeed to donwload the MMS (no error message on the mobile phone).

(it only appears when the MMS is sent through the MM7 interface with the Web everything is ok).

some new information given by the debug log of NowSMS.

Apparently the Nokia phone tried to donwload the MMS on a wrong URL.

This is the answer after the MM7 POST:

17:02:14:293 [12] ProcessMM7Request: <?xml version="1.0" ?>
<env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<env:Header>
<mm7:TransactionID xmlns:mm7="http://www.3gpp.org/ftp/Specs/archive/23_series/23.140/schema/REL-5-MM7-1-2" env:mustUnderstand="1">vas00001-sub </mm7:TransactionID>
</env:Header>
<env:Body>
<SubmitRsp xmlns="http://www.3gpp.org/ftp/Specs/archive/23_series/23.140/schema/REL-5-MM7-1-2">
<MM7Version>5.3.0</MM7Version>
<Status>
<StatusCode>1000</StatusCode>
<StatusText>Success</StatusText>
</Status>
<MessageID>20050802/17/ADD008B0@212.155.184.103</MessageID>
</SubmitRsp>
</env:Body>
</env:Envelope>

than the phone is trying to connect to download the MMS:

GET /20050802/16/42EE442050802/17/ADD008B0.MMS?id=0687173534 HTTP/1.0
user-agent: Nokia7650/1.0 SymbianOS/6.1 Series60/0.9

<skipped>

17:02:50:966 [12] ThreadProcessConnection: C:\PROGRA~1\NowSMS\MMSCDATA\20050802/16/42EE442050802/17/ADD008B0.INI
17:02:50:966 [12] ThreadProcessConnection: HTTP/1.0 404 Not Found

Why the 16/42EE442050802 part has been added ?
I really need some help,
tx in advance

Jerome,

This is VERY VERY VERY bizarre.

I'd probably need to see more debug logs, like expecially the SMSOUT-yyyymmdd.LOG ... so that I could see the MMS notification messages that were sent out.

Judging by the URL that the phone is trying to retrieve, it looks like the phone has received multiple MMS notifications, and it is mangling them.

Let me explain. Usually an MMS notification goes out as a multipart SMS in 2 parts. Very frequently the URL is split between the 2 parts.

I'm guessing that the phone has received multiple notifications, and it is combining parts from different notifications, which is causing the URL to be scrambled.

For example, "20050802/16/42EE44" is probably the first part of the URL in one of the notifications, and "2050802/17/ADD008B0.MMS?id=0687173534" is the second part of the URL in one of the notifications. For some reason the receiver is getting confused, and combining them incorrectly.

But why would this happen?

Each multipart message has an identifier associated with it, a number between 0 and 255. All parts of a multipart message have this identifier associated with it, so the receiving end can match up the multiple parts based upon the sender and this identifier.

We increment this number each time we send a message. And when the server is restarted, we are somewhat random about choosing the value we start with.

I'd be curious if you see this every time a notification goes out, or if there are any changes to the pattern.

I suppose it is possible that an operator SMSC could change our identifier value which might cause a problem. But I've never heard of anything like this.

I'm not sure what to suggest, but maybe some tips on how to cut the MMS notification down to a single SMS would help:

Sorry, this is the support forum for the Now SMS/MMS Gateway software product. We can't help you configure your mobile phone for your mobile operator.

Sorry, this is the support forum for the Now SMS/MMS Gateway product ... not a general forum for mobile phone support.

I can only suggest that you delete existing messages from your inbox. And the phone might have an outbox or sent messages folder, in which it could be keeping messages, so look for such a folder and clean it up.

Try deleting anything that might be taking up extra storage space, such as pictures.

I believe it is also possible to change the storage location for SMS messages to use the additional memory card instead of the phone's built-in memory. That would be worth a try.

But for any further advice, I would suggest you try a forum that deals with general mobile phone issues. I just did a Google search using keywords of Nokia 6600 memory full, and came up with links to a variety of discussion boards that might be better suited for this question than this one.
