hello,
I am using Send%20WAP%20Multimedia.htm in order to send WAP Multimedia Push. I do it the same way I am sending successfully MMS messages but adding the MMSWAPPush Part of the MM1 message. After sending the message there is no GPRS connction to upload the data and I only receive a sms which cannot be opened (T68i). Has anybody any ideas?

I do want to use the MNO MMSC to deliver the content so I guess there must be an upload like when sending an MMS (over the MMOs MMSC). Is sending over the MMOs MMSC also possible for WAP multimedia push?

I just want to confirm that you are able to send MMS messages ok. It is unusual that MMS would work, but multimedia WAP push would not.

Unless...hmm...you mention GPRS. I'm guessing that you are sending MMS over MM1/GPRS with a GPRS modem, going through the operator MMSC? (Settings defined under "MMSC Routing")

Then this would make sense.

When you do a WAP Multimedia Push, what is happening is that your content is being stored on the NowSMS server (actually the MMSC component of NowSMS). NowSMS builds a dynamic URL pointing to the content (using the "Local Host Name or IP Address" and "HTTP Port Number" settings on the "MMSC" page of the configuration). It then sends out a WAP Push message over SMS, which includes a pointer to that URL.

When the WAP Push message is opened, if the user chooses to load it, then they are taken to that URL.

This requires that your NowSMS server be accessible via the internet.

The question is ... when you say that the SMS "cannot be opened" ... does this mean that the SMS is completely unreadable, or that the push URL cannot be opened?

If the SMS is completely unreadable, then please tell me more about the type of SMSC connection you are using.

If you receive the WAP Push, but simply can't open the content, then this suggests an issue where the NowSMS server is not accessible via the "Local Host Name or IP Address" URL.

Yes, MMS works fine. I am sending it via MM1/GPRS with a t68i, going through the operator MMSC (MMSC routing). So what happens here is that after sending the MMS message there opens a GPRS Connection (using t68i) which posts the MMS data to the operators MMSC.

Now I am trying to tp the same (sending via operators mmsc) for WAP Multimedia Push, but after sending there starts no GPRS connection, consequentely the data can't be uploaded.
So the question is, if it is not possible to send WAP multimedia Push over the operators MMSC?

Rgarding the received SMS: after sending the WAP Push message there is only the notification of a new SMS. Opening this message is not possible (the phone simply displays the main menu).

No, you cannot send WAP multimedia Push over the operator MMSC. (Unless the operator MMSC happened to be ours, and a non-standard recipient format of phonenumber/TYPE=WAPP would trigger this type of delivery.)

Our WAP Multimedia Push function uses NowSMS as the content server. There is no general purpose way to push the content somewhere else.

I'm confused about the unopenable WAP Push. What is the receiving phone? Perhaps there is a user interface issue on that phone where you have to go to a different inbox to open the push?

What happens if you just send a simple WAP Push ... use the default settings, put in some simple text, and then specify a WAP URL such as http://wap.oa.yahoo.com ... can you receive that properly?
