You need to configure your operator's MMS settings in that dialog, which include a WAP server/proxy/gateway. That is the operator's, you do not need one.

What operator are you using? What settings have you configured?

Once the settings are configured, try sending an MMS message using the "Send MMS Message" form in the web interface.

I am also in seed of somewhat the same need... is it possible to have MMS routed locally... we are developing some apps on MMS... can we route the MMS locally without taking help of the service provider...

Technically possible, yes. Even with just one modem you can send an MMS to the modem itself.

Why you would want to do this is the biggest question. I suspect there is more to your desired setup than described above, so I would need more detail to understand whether or not what you want to do is actually possible.

It depends on what you are doing, what type of apps you are developing.

In the real world, MMS delivery to a mobile phone is initiated with the delivery of a specially formatted MMS notification that is delivered via SMS. So at a minimum, you need a provider (or a GSM modem) to facilitate the delivery of that SMS.

In lab environments, where people test or develop handsets, they will often have network emulators, such as the Agilent 8960, which can emulate a GSM/GPRS network. In this case, NowSMS can interface with the Agilent over HTTP to deliver SMS. (But if you're more of an app developer, the Agilent 8960 is a hefty investment, as it is designed more for test lab environments that need to perform in-depth protocol testing of mobile phones.)

The big issue is how you can deliver the SMS part of the MMS notification in a local environment. Especially if you are working with emulators as they generally don't have any support for this type of interface.

If you're writing your own MMS client, or you have an environment where your phones can be on-line with dedicated IP addresses, these MMS notifications could be delivered over IP instead of SMS.
