Hi Nowsms support, I saw that you develop a linux version, that is terrific . Can i install it into production or this is still on test ? Did you include all the features that was installed into the current version of windows one ? Another point is , did you include the SS7 interface ( sigtran ) into it in order to fully being compliant with the portability? To be honnest , we test an Opensource smsc that used JSS7 ( using with an application server as jboss ) and this work fine. thanks beforehand for your feedback br Marc

Hi Marc, For MMS, I'd recommend test environments only at this time. We've had a lot of testing feedback on the SMS and SMPP side of the product, but less on the MMS side. As a starting point, all features of the Windows version are supported, and the same configuration file formats are supported. Regarding HLR lookup, we still do not have a direct solution, but require HTTP callbacks to another service that can provide this info. We have been looking around for an HLR lookup service that could easily be installed along side NowSMS, whether that be based on JSS7 or some other environment. The HLR client example for UniversalSS7 looks like a very good potential fit - https://github.com/andreasfink/hlrclient What I like about this example is that it functions as a stand-alone HTTP server that provides the exact functionality that we require, without extra functionality to confuse us. The only problem is that we don't have an SS7 environment at present to validate this solution. Maybe it is possible for you to install the UniversalSS7 library and build that example? If that is too difficult, we might be able to provide some assistance on building the binary. Regards, Bryce Norwood NowSMS Support

Hi Bryce, Good news , do you know when nextgen will be available as final release? HLR lookup is useful because subscriber can change their operator often , and requesting DB is not enough as we don't have the information where the subscriber had left from our competitor. After this , HLR Lookup can be blocked by operator that belong a SMS firewall ( it avoid spam campaign ) but if the mms is declared all is fine. I will try to install universalSS7 and check if the SRI is well formatted for GSM used. i have a red hat server linked to ss7 network, i will give you feedback as soon as possible depending my bandwith. Don't hesitate to contact me if you need specific test. Br Marc |
