I am having an issue sending MMS to a new account I setup. I have now switch to 2 different phones.

I can send an sms from now but any mms I get Retry Pending - MM1 - got unknown response - HTTP Status: 504 Gateway Timeout

I turned on Debug=yes in the mmsc.ini file
[MMSC]
Debug=Yes

No additional logs are created.

I have in both phones sent MMS directly from the phone and that worked in both cases.

I have other phones that were added earlier that send MMS without an issue.

This is how it shows up in my ini file and its exactly like the rest of them

[VASPOUT-HD120a]
Description=
ForceSenderAddress=Yes
MMSVersion=1.2
Name=HD120a
Protocol=MM1
Server=nowsmsmodem_HD120a

Not sure whats up

So some of my phones are sending out MMS and others are not, all with the same error. The SIMS all can send data and I can send it directly from the phone. So its not the SIM or the phone.

I have turned on Debug=yes but I can't not find MMSCDEBUG.LOG. It is not showing up in the logs

I also added the beta line in the sms ini and I am showing an update for 2024.06.07 and was wondering what that update is.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in response.

In the Linux version, all debug info is logged to SMSDEBUG.LOG, and there is no separate MMSCDEBUG.LOG.

Can you send MMS using the built-in messaging client on the phone?

Could the issue be size related? Perhaps larger images/videos are having problems?

The debug log information might be helpful if you can capture it. In that log, there should be some more info in the raw 504 timeout error that tells us at what point the failure occurred. If you have a debug log, you can send to nowsmstech@nowsms.com.

Hi Carl,

This is a puzzler. We are going to have to get some T-Mobile US SIMs to try to recreate.

The following debug info is interesting:

Debug Info: Trying APN;MMS APN Active;mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com=10.175.85.157;route OK;route2 OK;
Exception
null
Connect to /10.175.85.157:80 timed out

The IP address is different each time, which is interesting (and confusing). Basically, when connected to the MMS APN, we're doing a DNS lookup on the MMSC URL, and getting a different IP address, which is odd. I figure they have a pool of servers and are using a round robin type of DNS setup to direct clients to different servers.

But normally, this type of DNS lookup would return multiple addresses, so if the first server is down, the client would try other servers. But I'm not seeing any evidence of multiple addresses, only a single address that is different each time.

You're not assigning IP addresses in the 10.x.x.x range on your WiFi, are you? That could possibly cause some confusion.

But aside from that long shot guess, I think we're going to have to see if we can recreate this problem with T-Mobile US SIMs and get a clearer picture of what is happening and why it is not working.

Regards,

I use a few carriers and the MMS have failed with both ATT & Tmobile and have also been successful on other phones with those carriers. I have also checked to make sure the APN info is correct and on all the phone I can send the MMS from the phone.

That is what is perplexing, if I couldn't send one from the phone that would make sense but even on the phones that fail from the NOW app can send from the phone directly.

no my ip addresses on the phones are DHCP and 192.168. etc.

I can send you any sim you need
