Hi support,

I want to learn the condition for contents of "M-Retrieve.Conf" to take the place of TooBig.TXT.

I submitted MMS including animation GIF and SMIL to NowSMS by using SonyEricsson Z1010(SIM free). After, this message was received.

This animation GIF was 307,711 bytes, and I was effectively setting Dynamic Image Conversion.
But, only TooBig.TXT was included in MMS that my Z1010 had received.
It wondered, and I changed the setting variously. NowSMS had exchanged the message contents for TooBig.TXT though Dynamic Image Conversion was invalidated.

Messages that contained JPG and other animation GIF were not exchanged by TooBig.TXT.
Afterwards, messages including the first animation GIF and SMIL were not exchanged by
TooBig.TXT.
TooBig.TXT did not appear though I returned the setting.

I am very confused.
I want to learn a reliable method by which messages including this animation GIF are not exchanged by TooBig.TXT.

If dynamic image conversion is NOT enabled, then you should not receive this message.

If dynamic image conversion is enabled, this error can occur if the total size of the content of the MMS message is larger than what the UAProf file for the receiving device can support.

The Z1010 has a limit of 307,200 bytes.

Hi, Bryce.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I have another question.
The local network that I am usually using is not connected with internet.
NowSMS cannot know the maximum size supported by device because it cannot connect with URL shown in x-wap-profile.

In this case, how many bytes is dynamic conversion adjusted the message?

Hi Nambu,

Perhaps at one time while it was connected, NowSMS downloaded the UAProf into its cache (see the UAProf directory beneath the NowSMS installation).

Hi Bryce,

I have some question.
I am using NowSMS v5.51b.
In the UAProf folder, it can do nothing but be a file that the installer made.

1.
Contents of the UAProf folder did not change though the network was changed to access the place where my NowSMS was shown in x-wap-profile.
When does NowSMS save file in the UAProf folder?

2.
I saved a file in the UAProf folder. Then, I added the file name and the product name (shown in user-agent) to the INI file.
But image size was not changed though dynamic conversion was checked when NowSMS cannot access with URL shown in x-wap-profile.
When NowSMS cannot access URL shown in x-wap-profile, cannot I use dynamic conversion?
If it is possible, please tell me correct method.

3.
When Profile is not found, is dynamic conversion of NowSMS invalid regardless of the setting?

Thank you.

1.) When a phone connects to NowSMS to retrieve a message from the MMSC, and dynamic conversion is enabled, we check for a "Profile:" or "X-WAP-Profile:" header. UAPROF.INI is consulted to determine if we already have a locally cached copy of the content of the specified URL. If not, we download it, and update UAPROF.INI if successfully downloaded.

2.) UAMAP.INI is only consulted when when there is no "Profile:" or "X-WAP-Profile:" header.

3.) Correct.

If you have internet access enabled, and the "Profile:" or "X-WAP-Profile:" seem to be ignored, take a look at those headers. Is there more than just the URL in the header?

If so, then that can cause a problem. I know some WAP gateways put extra junk in the headers (especially the Ericsson gateway), and v5.51c and later are more intelligent about parsing the header. (http://www.nowsms.com/download/latestpatch.zip)

Also, if you need to connect to the internet via a proxy, you can configure a UAProfProxy setting (see http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/5972.html)

Hi Bryce,

Thank you for kind answer.
I will try v5.51c and UAProfProxy setting.

I will question in the future because I am examining the setting and the network composition of NowSMS.
My best regards at that time.

Thank you.
