We have purchased NowSMS v 5.50, loaded on Win 2003 Server, with Multitech GPRS modem.

I am able to send and receive SMS, but cannot send or receive MMS. We have tested the SIM card (in Modem) by inserted into a Tmobile phone, then successfully sending and receiving MMS using the phone.

In NowSMS GUI, testing for connections is successfull and all parameters are fine.

It uses MM1 protocol. Is it that I need to upgrade to NowSMS v5.51? Any help on how to send/receive MMS will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Kashyap

Hi Kashyap,

Updating to v5.51 couldn't hurt (it is a free upgrade).

I doubt that the version is the problem, but v5.51 is a lot less picky about different configuration settings.

Basically I need more information about your configuration to offer you any advice.

I assume that you are configuring a connection to the operator MMSC. So you have defined an MM1 connection under "MMSC Routing", and made that connection your default route on the "MMSC Routing" page?

I don't know which country's T-Mobile you are connecting with, so I can't advise on specific settings that you should be using.

But I can advise that when you add an MM1 connection, there are two "Login Name:" and "Password:" fields on the page. You should make sure that the first set (under "Server Address") is blank.

You should also make sure that "Default Sender Address" is blank, and that "Allow Sender Address Override" is not checked.

Assuming that the above checks out ...

Go ahead and update to v5.51.

Tell me specifically what configuration settings you are using.

Enable the debug logs. On the "Serial #" page of the NowSMS configuration, enable the SMSDEBUG.LOG, MMSCDEBUG.LOG and MMSWAPDEBUG.LOG.

Try sending an MMS message.

ZIP up those log files and attach them to a reply here, and from those files I'll have a better idea of how your system is configured, and what is happening to the message that is not being received.

Bryce

Thanks for your quick response.

I am using Tmobiles USA (Chicago).

I have upgraded to 5.51 and settings are as you mentioned. I am attaching the log file and the setting screen shots. Screen shots are of older version but I am using the same value for the new version.

In the log I see following error: WSPRequest: HTTP/1.0 400 Bad Request

Looking forward to hear from you..
Thanks,,

Kashyap

Hi Kashyap,

Thanks for the details.

You need to use wap.voicestream.com as the APN, not internet3.voicestream.com. (At least I believe this is required. If that doesn't work, let me know, and I've got a T-Mobile USA SIM that I can run a test with.)

Hi Bryce

It worked,, thanks,, one more question:

We are sending receiving msges (SMS - MMS) on TMobile in following way:
Mobile <-> Tmobile n/w <-> modem <->nowSMS

Can we do the same for verizon network,, in other words, would nowSMS work for CDMA?

Thanks,,,
Kashyap Kamdar
