I'm using a PHP script to decode MM1 messages, once my GSM modem arrives I'll be using nowSMS to forward MMS messages to that script, but at the moment I've altered my phone's settings so the MMS is going directly to the PHP script. I can't find the sender details in the MMS message that reaches my computer. How do phones know who the MMS is from, is it sent in the SMS parts? Would I be able to use NowSMS to forward the sender details to my PHP script (via GET perhaps) along with the MMS? Many thanks, Jake. | |||

Hi Jake, When a phone submits an MMS message, the sender details are not included in the message ... because they would normally have to be verified by the MMSC. For an explanation of how operators who use NowSMS as their MMSC do this in the real world, see: http://www.nowsms.com/support/bulletins/tb-nowsms-002.htm For people who are not operators, NowSMS requires that user information be embedded in the MMS Server URL configured in the phone. I'm not sure if I understand this correctly, but I just installed the trial version of nowsms, ordered a gsm/gprs modem and am expecting to be able to receive MMS to the server. I currently take in email and hand to a perl script to pull out the pictures. I receive the users phone number and carrier in the From field. Will this change using the forward to email from the nowsms gateway? If it does, how do I get that information without having to change any user settings? This is for incoming mobile pictures to a web page application. Thanks, Geo | |||

Just got the modem working and I am getting the users mobile number in the From field, so this will work. I am also getting additional info in the From : <+121xxxxxxxx/TYPE=PLMN@mms.domain.com>, I noticed this was brought up in the archives, but did not seem to be removed. I have received messages from both cingular and nextel in this format, so I am assuming this is how all mms to email will come through. -Geo | |||
