Hi, Could someone recomend a good modem for mms recieving with SMSNow?? I have read that the Wavecom Fastrack is MMS compatible, but the specsheet on their website mentions nothing about it. Any info would be great! Cheers

Hi Donald, Quite a few people use Wavecom modems (and even more use modems that have Wavecom chipsets), so they are a fine choice. To be honest, the biggest problem with Wavecom modems is finding someone that will sell you one (unless you want to buy at least a couple hundred, it's hard to get anyone to talk to you ... at least that's the most common complaint that we hear). Basically, for MMS support in NowSMS, you want to make sure that the modem support GPRS. On the GPRS front, NowSMS requires support for AT+CGDCONT and *99 dialing. This is pretty standard stuff for GPRS modems, as these are the standard commands that are used if you want to make a data connection via GPRS with one of these modems. (Early model Wavecom GPRS modems did not support these commands, but that has been a number of years now, so I wouldn't expect to encounter any of these old modems now ... and a firmware upgrade should add the necessary support.) The Siemens MC35 Terminal is another good old standby GSM/GPRS modem. -bn

Hi Donald, i work for Audiotel Engineering company and we produce modems GPRS with the MC35i or MC55 and MC59 (Siemens). You can find all the information you need in our web site www.audiotel.it or you can write to the info@audiotel.it. With our MODEM INDUSTRIAL GPRS basic or with the MODEX GPRS you should be able to receive the MMS. For the technical details you should write an email and ask for the specific information. Our technical support are pretty able to answer any question. Bye, Sandra Escobar (sandra_escobar@audiotel.it) |
