Hi, I would like to route all incoming MMS messages to Now MMS gateway to one e-mail account for further processing. It should work independently on the sender’s phone number.

I don’t know how to set-up the MMSC service for this reason?
Thank for your advice.

Hi Milan,

The way that this is done varies slightly depending on the type of MMSC connection.

If you are receiving MMS messages over a GSM/GPRS modem connection, then you define the "MMS Receive" settings under "Properties/MMS Settings" for the modem in the "SMSC" list. One of the options for what to do with received messages is "Forward to E-Mail Address".

For other types of MMSC connections, an MMSC VASP connection is defined. The mobile operator configures their MMSC to connect to your server to deliver received messages. And one of the options when configuring a VASP account is how to route the received messages, where there is also a "Forward to E-Mail Address" option.

But as I review this information, and re-read your question, I think I understand your confusion. It is not clear what you need to configure to setup the MMSC service to facilitate this type of configuration, particularly when a GSM/GPRS modem is used.

On the "MMSC" page of the configuration, you need to define an "HTTP Port Number". You're not actually going to connect to this port, but the SMS gateway component may need to communicate with the MMSC locally via this port.

"SMTP Port Number" won't actually be used, but it does need a port number defined.

"Local Host Name or IP Address" will be used in the SMTP "HELO" dialog when NowSMS delivers the e-mail to another server.

"Domain Name for MMS E-Mail" will be appended to the phone number for the "From" address in the e-mail messages.

"SMTP Relay Host" specifies the SMTP server that NowSMS should connect to in order to deliver any e-mail messages. This setting is optional in NowSMS 2006, as NowSMS 2006 can act as a smart host and perform DNS lookups to facilitate e-mail delivery.

The other settings are not required.

With NowSMS 2006 it is also possible to host the e-mail account on the NowSMS server itself. To do this, enable the "POP3 Server". And instead of "Forward to E-Mail Address", select "Route to local user" ... selecting a user that is defined in the "SMS Users" list with SMTP login enabled. You can then configure a POP3 e-mail client to connect to the NowSMS server using this account information for retrieving the MMS messages as e-mail messages.
