Hello,

I am currently using the latest version of nowsms v5.51.

I would like to ask the following. I have 2 gsm modems that i receive sms and mms, and maybe in the future i will use more.

SMS routing can be done based on the gsmmodem phonenumber. What happens with mms. I want mms messages received by the first modem to be routed via mm7 and mms received by second gsm modem be routed to an email address.

From mmsc routing tab, mms messages can be routed depending on receiver phonenumber, which cannot be set dynamically, hence i cannot use it.

Is there any other way in order to do this

Thank you very much in advance for your help

Kind regards

Dinos

Hi Dinos,

The "MMSC Routing" tab applies only to outbound MMS message routing ... not for inbound (received) messages.

When you receive MMS messages via a GSM/GPRS modem, you can specify how you want those received messages to be processed in the same place where you define the operator MMS settings for that modem. ("SMSC" page, highlight modem, press "Properties", then press "MMS Settings". This might also require that you define the "Phone Number" associated with the modem under the properties for the modem.)

Thank you Bruce for your reply.

What i really want to do is the following. I want to use the first gsm modem for mms to email and email to mms(in this case i want incoming mms to be converted to multimedia wap push) and want to use the second gsm modem to receive mms and forward them using EAIF to another mmsc.

Outbound routing can only be done based on receipient phonenumber?

Is this scenario possible with nowsms.

Thank you very much in advance for your help

Kind regards

Dinos

Hi Dinos,

Outbound routing can be done either based upon recipient or sender phone number.

Unfortunately, when you talk about MMS to e-mail and e-mail to MMS, there is currently no way to force e-mail to MMS to go to a particular modem based upon the e-mail sender address. (As discussed in another thread, http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/1/14481.html, we are planning to make an enhancement in NowSMS 2006 to allow different e-mail senders to have outbound messages routed with a specific sender address to force them to a specific modem. But this is still in our development queue.)

In your configuration, if you make the first GSM modem (MMS/e-mail) the default route, and the second modem was forwarding via MM7, then it would be ok.

But I can't think of a way to do this forwarding to EAIF.

That said, you might be able to fool NowSMS.

Try this ...

Under "MMSC Routing", temporarily change your EAIF connection to an MM7 connection.

Go back to the "MMS Receive" settings for the second modem, and select route via MM7 using the connection that you just changed from EAIF.

Go back to "MMSC Routing", and change the connection back to EAIF.

I haven't tried this, but I think it will work.

The user interface won't let you select a non-MM7 connection as a route for received messages. (And it will clear your current connection if you go back in to edit "MMS Settings" for that modem ... which means you would have to repeat this trick if you needed to edit any of the other settings.) But I believe the server will support routing to an EAIF connection if you can manage to get it configured via this trick.
