Hi,
I am pushing a vCard message to motorola phone. Below are the details.

UDH: 06050423F423F4
Data: 424547494E3A56434152440D0A56455253494F4E3A322E310D0A4E3A536D6974683B4D696B650D0A 54454C3B505245463A2B35353531323334350D0A454E443A56434152440D0A

It works perfectly on Nokia, but on motorola, its not getting displayed.

Do things need to be handled differently for Motorola and Nokia for the vCard ?

Thanking in Advance,
Suddu

Hi Suddu,

My experience is that the WAP vCard format only works on Nokia devices. Although this format was introduced in the original WAP standards, it seems that most other manufacturers neglected to read the bit that suggested that format.

SonyEricsson likes the raw vCard to be sent as a regular text message, and it automatically detects that it is a vCard. (Be sure to use both carriage return and line feed for line breaks.)

I don't think Motorola phones recognise either formats.

If you look at the function to send a contact via SMS in the RAZR, for example, Motorola sends a text message with the contact name and phone number in it ... but a receiving phone number does not recognise this as a contact that could be added to the address book.

I'm pretty sure that Motorola will accept a WAP Push to a URL containing a vCard object ... which works with most phones ... as long as the receiving phone has WAP access provisioned.

Sorry ... but it just seems to me that Motorola's phone user interface is not well enough thought out to include basic support for sending/receiving contact entries via SMS alone.
