Hi Bryce!

My college and I already managed to receive the MM7 Submit.Req from our application. Everything works excellent - we managed to close the whole of MM7 messages exchange cycle (Submit.Req, Submit.Res, DeliveryReport.Req, deliveryReport.Res).

By accepting our MM7 Submit.req messages into MMS-IN directory we were able to make sure ourselves we properly get all multimedia files we send to MMSC from our VASP application.

But, what we want to check now, is to see how the messages we sent to MMSC look really like on a mobile phone.

Could you tell me what is the simplest way to see these received MMS messages on the mobile phone?

Meanwhile, I already tried to do something around this…

I added one SMSC Connection via PC COM port to my mobile phone (Sony Ericssin K700i). I also managed to get MMSC notification from NowSMS on my mobile phone from NowSMS via PC COM port and the cable using “Internal MMSC” mode, but I am not sure what is the easiest way to download the real MMS message from NowSMS?!

Could you please instruct me how to configure the NowSMS (I suppose that “MMS settings” in Modem connection should be configured) in order to be able to download MMS message from NowMMSC after getting the MMSC notification on my mobile phone via serial port and cable?

I hope to get any advice to solve this problem…

Regards,

Ernez.

Hi Ernez,

The easiest way is to actually send them out as an MMS over the air. And the easiest way to do that is with a GPRS modem.

A SonyEricsson K700i will work fine for this (it can be used to send & receive SMS messages, and to send MMS messages ... but not to receive them).

But there are two different ways that you can send MMS messages out with NowSMS. The default mode is the "Internal MMSC" mode. But more than half of the mobile operators out there block this type of MMS delivery by way of the MMS settings that are installed by default on the mobile phones that they sell.

The other mode is to have NowSMS send the message through the operator MMSC, just like the MMS client in the mobile phone would.

Basically, you configure an MM1 connection in the "MMSC Routing" area of the NowSMS setup. You tell it to use your GPRS modem ... and you need to supply the MMS settings for the operator whose SIM you are using (we have a list of many of them under the "Lookup Operator Settings" button in NowSMS 2006).

Check out http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm for some more background information that will better explain the differences between these two different ways of sending MMS ... and provide additional pointers for performing the configuration.
