Hi,
I am having problems in forwarding an in coming MMS to an email address. In the VASP settings, I have chosen "Forward to e-mail" option but still it aint forwarding it. On the same, I have also tried to add an "MMSC Routing" rule to use SMTP and gave the address to forward the MMS to. But unfortunately, I dont know where the mail is going since i cant c any error messages. In the MMSlog, i get :

2003-12-16 11:30:59,MMSIN,127.0.0.1,VASP:tallat,zafar@nurse.ie,20031216/11/A3529FF1,0014DDE0.RFC,5699

Kindly help me out.
Thank you very much.

On the "MMSC" page of the configuration dialog, is a valid "SMTP relay host" defined?

If not, the messages are queuing up in the MMSCOUT subdirectory of the NowSMS installation.

Let's get a debug log from your system so that we can understand the flow.

Manually edit SMSGW.INI, and under the [SMSGW] section header, add Debug=Yes. Manually edit MMSC.INI, and under the [MMSC] section header, add Debug=Yes.

Restart the NowSMS services.

Repeat your action to submit that message.

E-mail to nowsms@now.co.uk (or post in reply to this message) the MMSCDEBUG.LOG and SMSDEBUG.LOG files.

Actually, I think I only need to see the MMSCDEBUG.LOG. That should give us an idea of what is occurring.

From the look of the log entry that you have shown above, the ".rfc" reference suggests that NowSMS is queueing the message in the MMSCOUT directory. But I'm hoping the MMSCDEBUG.LOG will provide more complete details of what is happening.

Apologies. We're currently a little slow on processing support e-mail and messages out here on the forum. Unfortunately, I didn't get to your e-mail today, but should get to it tomorrow.

Hi Tallat,

Apologies again. I took some time off for our holidays here, and I didn't finish everything before the time off.

It appears that the problem is an invalid SMTP address in the sender field of the SMTP message that is being generated.

I'm a bit puzzled by this. It looks like you are submitting the message to NowSMS using MM7. Can you show me the MM7 envelope that you are posting?

FYI ...

The patch that Tallat refers to can be found at http://www.nowsms.com/download/nowsms5-patch4.zip.

There was a problem parsing the sender address out of an MM7 request in most scenarios. This could cause problems when routing such a message to SMTP, where the sender address would be invalid.

Hi Tallat,

I'm not aware of any such problems.

If you are getting a "Cannot create socket" error, then this suggests that there is a resource utilisation problem on the PC.

Make sure that the debug logs are enabled.

Manually edit SMSGW.INI, and under the [SMSGW] section header, add Debug=Yes. Manually edit MMSC.INI, and under the [MMSC] section header, add Debug=Yes.

Restart the services (reboot the PC if necessary). Let them run until an error occurs. Then ZIP up the SMSDEBUG.LOG and MMSCDEBUG.LOG files, and e-mail them to nowsms@now.co.uk.

I can only guess that something about your configuration might be creating some sort of loop, which is causing a severe resource drain on the PC. But I'd really need to see some details from a debug log to understand what is being attempted.
