Hello,

I recently installed the Now SMS/MMS Gateway. I tried to send an MMS from the Web Interface and I received the notification but was unable to download the content.

I have configured my phone to use the APN used for WAP browsing and didnt work. What else should I check?

I also tried bypassing the WAP Gateway using a public WAP Gateway address but could not find one that was working.

What do you recommend?

Thanks,
Alma

Hi Alma,

Please see http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm for an overview of how MMS works.

I believe Lisa Smith forwarded a debug log file from you to my attention earlier today.

Looking at that debug log file, I noticed that the "MMSC Host Name or IP Address" setting that you have configured for the NowSMS MMSC is a private IP address.

There is no way that a mobile phone could connect back to the private IP address of the MMSC in order to retrieve an MMS message unless the phone is on the same private IP network.

Based upon the contact information in your e-mail, it was not clear to me whether or not you are a mobile operator.

My recommendations would vary greatly depending upon whether or not you are a mobile operator, and what exactly you are trying to accomplish.

If you are the mobile operator, then the NowSMS MMSC must be accessible via the data network to which the mobile phones connect.

If you are not the mobile operator, then I would point back to http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm. Depending upon what you are trying to accomplish, the most likely alternatives would be using a GPRS modem to submit messages via the operator MMSC or using multimedia WAP push instead of MMS.
