Hey All, Curious to know if anyone has successfully been able to configure NowSMS to send and receive MMS's in Australia - I'd presume this thread could answer alot of questions for aussies as MMS is still a mystery in .au .. Here is what I got, NowSMS v2006 Windows XP SP2 Optus simcard (on plan, gprs/wap enabled and tested on mobile) 1 week old Wavecom Fastrack I am able to send and receive SMS's and the two way system is working like a dream. When I attempt to send an MMS via the NowSMS webserver, the phone does receive the MMS notification however it says that it fails to receive it. This suggests to me that the MMSC is not configured correctly, I have allowed the machine to sit directly on the internet, MMSC component has been configured up, and I can see the correct URL in the MMS (this phone has a details tab which shows me where the MMS is coming from). I have tested the GPRS connection and it seems to work, it doesn't seem to want to dial out when NowSMS is already using the comport (i need to stop the NowSMS service, test, then restart NowSMS).. I'd imagine once we fix this, my other incoming MMS problem will magically fix itself too. I would really like to get this working because I have a few clients interested in MMS technology and waiting on a demo.. Looking forward to your response, Mark. | |||

Hi Mark, Have you read "How MMS Works" at http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm? Basically, a majority of mobile operators block MMS delivery from external MMSCs, so you need to either route MMS messages back out through the operator MMSC over GPRS or use multimedia WAP Push. The link above provides a good overview, and then a pointer to http://www.nowsms.com/documentation/ProductDocumentation/mms_notifications_and_c ontent/Connecting_to_operator_MMSC.htm, which explains how to configure NowSMS to send messages via an operator MMSC over a GPRS modem. Note that the web version of the documentation is a little older than our PDF manual. The current version of NowSMS has a button from which you can load the MMS settings for most operators, including Optus. Take a look at those references, and then follow-up if you have any additional questions. -bn | |||
