p800 is a very powerful phone but the sms gateway is saying it does not support sms, anyone tried connecting through p800 please advise if not please recommend a phone | |||

I agree that the P800 is a very powerful phone. However, according to the Sony Ericsson P800 White Paper published by Sony Ericsson, while this phone supports ETSI GSM 07.05 AT commands, it does not support the AT commands related to sending and receiving SMS messages. Nokia Series 60 phones, which also use the Symbian OS, have a similar problem. They can send SMS via the AT commands, but they cannot receive them. I like the SonyEricsson T68i as a cheap reliable phone to use with the NowSMS gateway. (Note that when you use a phone as a modem, you can send/receive SMS, but you can only send MMS ... you cannot receive MMS via the modem interface when using a phone as your modem.) | |||
