Hi,

I've got a sytem with a few comm ports (hardware, COM1-4) as well as virtual (software) comm (COM 10, COM 11) ports.
If I attach a GPRS modem to the virtual port, I can talk to it with Hyperterminal.

However, NowSMS can't discover the modem. It only sees one of the six comm ports (COM3).

How can I manually add a modem on a port that nowsms don't want to see but is there?

Or, how can I get the autodiscovery to work across all comm ports?

Thanks
Jannie

Jannie,

That's an interesting question.

I've noticed that on one of my PC's, NowSMS displays all of the COM ports, including the virutal ones.

On another, NowSMS doesn't even show the non-virtual ports.

So I'm going to run some tests on that.

But the quick answer is to associate a modem driver with the port (via Phone & Modem Options in the Windows Control Panel). Then you can select the modem driver instead of the COM port.

While the SonyEricsson P800 is quite a powerful phone, the P800 does not include complete inbuilt GSM modem capabilities. SonyEricsson documentation states that the device does not support the AT commands for SMS.

Therefore it cannot be used as a GSM modem with NowSMS.
