Hi, I'm Antonio and I have problems configuring the mmsc. My NowSms is connected to a gprs modem (mms1) and it's configured with mmsc routing, and vasp account. Routing the mms through the operator SFR (vodafone France), and vasp account for receiving the mms (inside the mms-in, in fact it stores them properly) or direct delivering (not working yet).

I want to send mms from a mobile to another, and make pass through my SmsNow, and make SmsNow deliver this message (through the operator's network).

The problems are the parameters to specify in the sender and recipient mobile devices. I configured the sender device with the operator parameters to connect to the internet, and inside the mms configuration I changed the mms server with my NowSms public Ip (example: 178.25.68.95:8080) where 8080 is the port specified in the mmsc http port number(or maybe have I to specify the port 8800 of the web interface?). I think that NowMms has built-in a relay proxy... What are the operator parameters I have to change with the mobile configuration?? I'm using now a Sony Ericsson F500I for sending, and a Samsung ZV30 for receiving, Is there anything to change also in the recipient phone?

Thx you again!

Hi I'm Antonio again, I send you the logs files.
I'm quite sure now seeing the log files that the mmsc tryies to connect, but gets the error user unknown...I have the latest version of NowSms. I don't know if it's a problem with the operator.
The mobile, after trying to send the mms, says that can't resolve the address...or in the F500 when sending it says Server Error... I don't know what to do...

application/x-zip-compressedLog files.
Debug.zip (425.7 k)

Thx Bryce.

Hi again:
I got it working, and i can make the mms arrive to the gateway, but the problem now is that I only receive the mms notification, and the mobile devices are unable to retrieve the mms...I see in the gateway that they are processed by the vasp, then i get the notification in the mobile, and I open the notification but the mobile is unable to download, getting an error (try later)

Thx.

Hi Antonio,

Looking at your logs ... the first thing that I would say is to verify that you can send an MMS message properly via the built-in web interface before you start experimenting with making your own HTTP requests.

That way you'll know whether there is a problem with the NowSMS configuration ... or a problem in the format of your HTTP request.

There were URL problems in the messages that you were posting ... but it sounds like you may have resolved them? (If you are posting using MM1, then you must post to /username=password where "username" is account defined in "MMSC Users" ... or you must post to /mm1/account=password where "account" is an account defined in "MMSC VASP".)

At this point, it sounds like your problem is that the recipient is receiving an MMS notification, but they are not able to retrieve the MMS message content.

This could happen for one of several reasons:

1.) Your NowSMS MMSC is not accessible over the internet.

2.) The "Local Host Name or IP Address" setting configured for the MMSC is not a valid host name or IP address for connecting to the NowSMS MMSC over the internet.

3.) Your mobile operator does not support MMS delivery from external MMSCs.

Before you spend a lot of time on #1 and #2, even if those issues are a problem, it is likely that #3 will be a problem for you. Most mobile operators in Europe do not support MMS delivery from external MMSCs.

There is a write-up with considerably more information available at http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm.

The solution to this is to route MMS messages via the operator MMSC for delivery.

You do this by defining an "MMSC Routing" using the "MM1" protocol. And then you define the settings for the operator MMSC, just like you did for the settings that you defined for receiving MMS messages from the operator MMSC. And you make that "MMSC Routing" your "Default Route".
