Hy Bryce,
On our MMSC , we 've got 2 Other operator with who we have MM4 interface connected. One in the same country and the other with France ( Reunion is a french territorries based on indian ocean ).
our country code prefix is like +262 692 or +262 693 and local prefix is 0692 or 0693.
to send MMS to FRance ( via MM4 interface ) we should put +336xxxxxx ( which are the country code from france ) and as you could guess, customer , following with Marketing unit want to send mms to france by only tape 06xx ( where xx is other that 0692 or 0693 ) instead of +336xx.
i try to find solution on board ( yours http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/485/17220.html ) but i only find the way to do that for MM1 interface and not for MM4 one. is it possible to use parameter like MSISDNHeaderPrefixConvert or MSISDNHeaderDefaultCountryCode to the MM4 side in order to change the behaviour?
Thanks for your reply
Marc

Hi Marc,

Apologies for the delay in response.

Can you clarify?

Are you saying that the following numbers are all valid:

+262 692 xxxxxx
0692 xxxxxx (if in Reunion, France or both?)
+33 692 xxxxxx

If so, then what conversions would you like us to apply?

I'm a little confused because you talk about sending TO France using +336xxxxxx?

Are you saying that 06xxxxxxxx is a way of making a call to France from Reunion? So 06xxxxxxx is the same as +336xxxxxxx?

There is a prefix conversion feature that might perform this conversion, but before I suggest, I want to make sure that I understand your prefix conversion rules correctly. Can you explain with some examples of which formats should convert to which other formats?

Hi sorry for delay too
Reunion island is a part of the french territory ( area of France ) but based on the indian ocean ( near Mauritius island.
In reunion we have, for mobile issue , a specific APBQ and a country code. There's three competitor in the island. our country code are 262( international +262) and the ABPQ ( national format ) are 0692xxxx or 0693xxxxxx.
Orange Reunion are a subsidiary company , at 100% , from Orange France and we allow the sending of MMS from reunion to OFrance et the reverse. But subscriber should type the internationnal of france to send the MMS to France. as example , a Orange Reunion subscriber who want to send an MMS to an Orange France
subscriber should type +336xxxxxxxx instead of the need that is to type the national code.
In the configuration we had +33 in the mmsc routing ( as describe below for MMSC routing for Orange France ) how

Parameter Value
Account Name MM4 Orange France
Account Description MM4 Orange France
Allow Sender Address Override True
Route Messages to this
account for recipient
phone numbers: +336*
Route message to VASP via: MM4
Server address xxxxxxx:xx
Login name
Password
E-Mail domain mms.orange.fr
Message Format MM4

Below is the result ( in the mmsc.log from a mms from ,+262692xxyyzz to 0681aabbcc ( without country code from france that is +33 )
2007-10-05 15:40:23,MMSIN,10.39.0.179,+262692xxyyzz,+262681aabbcc,VASP:SFR,5BB38815.mms,433

When the subscriber type the number , the mmsc change the national format in +262 that should be +33.

Is there a solution to allow the typing of national format to send MMS to France from reunion?

I summarize the behaviour of the provisionning
if a 262 subcriber are in the database so routing MM1 else MM4 ( on with the route message are +262* ) configuration below

Parameter Value
Account Name SFR
Account Description SFR
Allow Sender Address Override True
Route Messages to this account for recipient phone numbers: +262*
Route message to VASP via: MM4
Server address xxxx
Login name
Password
E-Mail domain mms.sfr.fr
Message Format MM4

can i say to mmsc , you've got a destination number 06XXX that are not like 0692 or 0693 , so go to OFrance Routing ( the +336 ) one ) ?
Regards
Marc

I do not see any function in the MMSC that would allow this.

We would need to add functionality to accomplish this.

I need to discuss with my colleagues, but I am thinking that if we added a recipient address conversion table, then this would work. In your installation, you would define the following table, if I understand correctly:

+26261*:+3361*
+26262*:+3362*
+26263*:+3363*
+26264*:+3364*
+26265*:+3365*
+26266*:+3366*
+26267*:+3367*
+26268*:+3368*
+262691*:+33691*
+262694*:+33694*
+262695*:+33695*
+262696*:+33696*
+262697*:+33697*
+262698*:+33698*
+262699*:+33699*

So to use your example of a user sending to 0681aabbcc ...

The MMSC would see this as a national number and convert to international format of +262681aabbcc.

The MMSC would then check the recipient address conversion table, and find a match against +26268*, converting the number to +33681aabbcc.

Would that type of solution work?

If it would, then I will ask our engineering team to implement such a solution. (I have already had preliminary discussions with them, and they indicate that this is not very difficult.)

Hi Malcolm ,
Thanks for your reply
The solution you propose are great for us, even it could be more selective by taking only the Orange France APBPQ but it is ok like that.
is it configuration or a patch has to be applied,
because we have already a specific patch
see http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/485/19792.html and http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/485/22356.html
How could we do for that ? do you need specifications for that?

Hi ,
do you have some information about the implementation of the solution ?

Hello Marc,

Some belated follow-up. The new update has been delayed due to development work unrelated to this particular change.

The update is currently in testing, and should be ready next week.

The setting could not be added exactly like Malcolm described above. In particular, the matching is a direct "prefix" match, there is no concept of a "*" wildcard in this match.

Therefore, to implement these conversions, the following edit would need to be applied to MMSC.INI under the [MMSC] header:

MSISDNRecipientPrefixConvert=+26261:+3361,+26262:+3362,+26263:+3363,+26264:+3364 ,+26265:+3365,+26266:+3366,+26267:+3367,+26268:+3368,+262691:+33691,+262694:+336 94,+262695:+33695,+262696:+33696,+262697:+33697,+262698:+33698,+262699:+33699

This setting will be available in the 2007.11.19 release and later versions.

The other patches that you mention (Ericsson MM7 compatibility for routing received messages to an MM7 VASP) are already incorporated in this release, so that is fine.
