I have a Multitech GSM USB modem with a rogers sim in it. I have everything else working:
I can send/receive SMS
I can send MMS

I want everything to go through the modem and use the carrier's MMSC.

I have read many threads in this forum and have not found a solution.

I have tried sending an MMS from a handset and also from the system to itself and neither work.

When I used a cingular sim I was able to receive 2 SMS's each I sent it an MMS although it still didn't receive the MMS.

With Rogers, I don't receive any notice at all.

I've used another Rogers sim and I'm having a bit more luck.

I'm receiving 2 binary SMS messages each time I send the system an MMS but it's not retrieving them.

Here are the last 2 messages:

I don't know what's going on, but on several recent incidents we have seen corrupt MMS notification messages being received from Multitech modems.

I don't know if it is a specific firmware issue or what. However, our tests have shown that the bytes in the received binary messages are corrupted. We even had a user test by sending a binary message out from NowSMS, and we compared the received message, which was hopelessly corrupted.

If you change the "SMS Message Storage" setting to be "Direct to Modem", you will get further.

Our tests show that the messages are only corrupted if the modem saves the message to the SIM card (I don't think that modem supports saving to device memory). If the modem is routing the received message directly over the modem interface, then it does not get corrupted.

However, there is still a problem. If a notification is received while NowSMS has an active GPRS connection to retrieve the MMS message content, the modem will save the notification to the SIM, and it will be corrupted.

You may want to check to see if there is any updated firmware available for your modem. We have not had any contact with Multitech regarding this issue, but we have seen it occur with several customers in the past few months.
