Hi All,

A newcomer to telcom domain :-)

I am setting an Environment using Anritsu and NowSMS. I have one licensed NowSMS. My question is : Can we use one NowSMS with multiple Anritsu?
Means, if three Anritsu and NowSMS are in same network and we want to send MMS via NowSMS web interface to a particular phone connected to Anritsu, Is it possible? and if yes what settings need to be modified. Please suggest.

Thanks in Advance for you support.

Regards
DK

Hi DK,

That shouldn't be a problem.

In your particular setup what would be important is that you define multiple different HTTP SMSC connections in NowSMS to point to the different Anritsu boxes.

In the HTTP SMSC definition, make sure that "Support any outbound message traffic" is NOT checked. (Or maybe you want to leave this checked for one route only ... meaning if there is not an explicit route defined for a number, it would get routed to the connection with this checked.)

And in the "Preferred SMSC connection for" list, add the virtual numbers that you are using which should be routed via this connection.

It's a little difficult to explain ... but the idea would be that each of the Anritsu boxes would have a different virtual phone number associated with it. NowSMS would decide which route to use based upon this phone number.

(I've never setup the Anritsu hardware myself, so I'm not familiar with it ... but the basic concept is that it looks like an HTTP SMSC to NowSMS.)

Hi Des,

Thanks a lot :-)
With your guidance , I am able to connect multiple Anritsu with NowSMS server.

I can send SMS to a particular phone attached to a particular Anritsu via NowSMS.

But, now the issue is MMS cannot be send to both.

Only one Anritsu (Network Simulator)is working fine for MMS.

Do we need to have some special setting in MMSC for redirecting MMS to a particular network Simulator attached to a phone?
(in my case two different network simulator )

I am attaching the log file also below.

I assigned dummy phone number to each Anritsu( Network simulator)
1. Anritsu A as 1234
2. Anritsu B as 5678

When I am sending MMS to Anrisu A (phone number 1234) its works fine from NowSMS end and I can download it on my phone.

But when sending MMS to Anritsu B( phone number 5678) I am getting download fail on downloading MMS content from server.

You can verify my understanding my attached log file.

Looking for your support on the issue.

Regards
Deepak Kumar

Hi Deepak,

It's likely a host name or IP address issue that you have to deal with in the configuration. Either on the NowSMS side, or in the Anritsu.

Let me explain ...

When you send the MMS message, what happens is that the content of the MMS message gets packaged up in a dynamically generated URL on the MMSC (NowSMS).

Then an MMS notification message is sent via WAP Push over SMS to the recipient device.

When the recipient device gets the notification message, it tries to fetch the URL.

It sounds like this URL fetch is failing.

NowSMS builds the host name part of this URL based upon the "Local Host Name or IP Address" in the "MMSC" configuration, and the associated "HTTP Port Number".

So you end up with a URL in the notification that looks something like this:

http://host:port/20090212/16/DF45A0F5.mms

You need to make sure that each of the devices can acess the MMSC via the same "host:port" IP address or host name. It looks like the 5678 system can't make this connection for some reason.
