I want to know the way to send IP push.
Can I send the IP push to the now sms?
If now sms support IP push, where do I send the IP Push?
"Send WAP Push Message?" or "Send mms Notification?
also what do I enter the field?
In the Send MMS Notification, I enter the field.

when I enter IP address (that handset have) in the Phone Number, IP Push is not sent.
How can I send the IP push? And What do I enter the value in the "MMS URL"?

I also send the IP push to the "send wap push message" But I can't send the IP push.

I have to test the ip push. Please let me konw where and how can I test ip push.

ps: what's the udp 2948port? where can I confirm the udp 2948port and configure the 2948port?
when you send the ip push, how does handset gets the ip?
I connect the ps service using the handset. and disconnect the ps service.
After disconnecting the ps service, my handset have the ip address. So I enter the IP address in the phone number. Is it right?

Hi,

When NowSMS sends a WAP push or MMS notification to an IP address, it sends a WSP push PDU to the IP address over UDP. (When the destination is a phone number, the WSP push PDU gets sent over SMS.)

UDP port 2948 is the port number that the WSP push PDU is sent to on the receiving device.

I do not know what you mean by the "ps service".

Does that device have a dedicated IP address?

Most often, on live networks, devices are given private IP addresses ... they can connect out to public IP addresses via a NAT router and/or proxy. A push can only be received by such a device if NowSMS is in the same private IP address space.

Ps service is packet service such as wap.

After Hutchison mobile phone is connect the wap and then disconnect, the mobile phone have the ip adress all the time.

So I enter the Ip adress having the the phone in the phone number field.

Is it right?
If this way is wrong, how can I test the ip push? Do I connect the mobile phone to the PC using the usb cable?

Hi Johnny,

Ok ... PS = packet switched, I understand that now.

When you make a connection to the mobile operator network, the IP address that you are assigned is not necessarily a public IP address.

In most cases, you are assigned a private IP address on the operator network, and you are allowed to make outbound connections from the phone to the internet via a NAT (network address translation) router.

Inbound IP connections to your phone are not possible.

Some mobile operators do offer real live IP addresses, but there can be firewalls that restrict inbound connections.

Bottom line ... I would not expect WAP Push over IP to work in an environment where you are sending from outside the operator network.

I would also not expect IP push to work over a USB cable.

WAP Push over IP is generally not a technology that is practical to use except in very specialised environments. (Our customers who use it are primarily mobile phone testing labs or developers with their own private networks.)

Hmm... I work the TESTBED where i can test gsm, umts network.

In our netwrok, my mobile phone connect the internet without NAT,firewall.

In our network, there are three type of APN (qe,tb,lgtb). When I configure the APN by qe and tb, my mobile phone connect the internet via a NAT. But When I configure the APN by lgtb, mobile phone is connect the internet directly without passing the NAT.
Also when I configure the qe,tb, I'm assigned private IP. When I configure the lgtb, I'm assigned public IP. And our firewall and NAT are not restrict the udp 2948 port.

After I enter the public IP in the phone number field and mobile phone configure the APN by lgtb,
I send the message in the mms notification. But I don't receive the message.

What's the problem

Ok.

Earlier you mentioned "Hutchison", which makes it sound like this mobile phone is on a live operator network.

Stop trying to send MMS notifications without a valid "MMS URL". There seems to be some confusion in our discussions about the "MMS URL". For some reason NowSMS will try to send an MMS notification if you leave the "MMS URL" field blank ... however this is not a valid MMS notification. A valid MMS notification requires a pointer to an MMS message.

Test simple WAP push first ... "service indication" messages. Make sure this works before you move on to testing MMS. If simple WAP push is not working, MMS will not work.

If WAP push is working, but MMS is not ... there is a lot more that can go wrong in MMS. The MMS notification contains a URL that contains the content of the MMS message. The handset must be able to access this URL in order to complete the MMS message reception.

DO NOT use MMS Notification unless you understand what "MMS URL" is. Instead, use "Send MMS Message" with IPNotify settings in the MMSC.INI file as described in our other thread (http://support.nowsms.com/discus/messages/485/25165.html). Also see http://www.nowsms.com/howmmsworks.htm to understand how the MMSC builds a dynamic URL for the MMS message content when "Send MMS Message" is used.

Unfortunately ... I can't tell you what is wrong in your environment.

But, here are some things I would suggest trying to help you figure it out ...

1.) Does simple WAP push over IP (Service Indication) work?

2.) Are you able to send MMS messages using WAP push over SMS as the transport?

3.) Can the handset successfully send an MMS message into the MMSC? (you may not be able to receive it, but does the MMSC-yyyymmdd.LOG show that the handset was able to submit a message)

4.) Are you certain that the handset can support WAP Push over IP using UDP port 2948?

I did test as your suggestion

1.) Does simple WAP push over IP (Service Indication) work?
→No, I didn't receive the wap push message over IP.
2.) Are you able to send MMS messages using WAP push over SMS as the transport?
→Whne I entered the phone number in the phone number field at the SEND WAP PUSH MESSAGE, I didn't receive the message.
3.) Can the handset successfully send an MMS message into the MMSC? (you may not be able to receive it, but does the MMSC-yyyymmdd.LOG show that the handset was able to submit a message)
→I send the mms message and I receive the mms message. Also There is a log for the sending the mms.
4.) Are you certain that the handset can support WAP Push over IP using UDP port 2948?
→Actually I don't konw that Hutchison phone support the udp 2948 port.

I have some questions.

At the Send WAP Push Message, When I send the wap push(service indication) using the Hutchison pohone, push message is not received.
but When I send the wap push(service indication) using the AT&T phone, I receive the wap push message. All of them enter the phone number in the phone number field.
If Hutchison phone don't send the wap push using the phone number, Don't Hutchison phone send the wap push using the IP?

I understand the mms url. mms url contain header information about the MMS message and a URL pointer. Where can i find out the mms url?
In our network, We use the intro mobile mmsc.We find out the mms url using the intro mobile mms iot tool. But I don't find out mms url at the now sms.

At the Wap Push Message, Do I send the wap push over IP without configuring IPNotify?

I attach the mmsc.log. I use the phone number 2211 6206.
