Hi Bryce, I have just upgraded to v5.01 on win NT from v4.20 excited about the new features, but on the NowSMS control panel, when I go to new features, eg SMSC > Modem > MMS Settings, I get a Dr Watson crash for the Control Panel. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Christian | |||

Hi Christian, Apologies for the delay getting back to you on this. Your message got me thinking ... we just don't hear so much from good old Dr. Watson these days. I've been wondering where he was hiding out ... I think the problem that you're running into is Win NT specific. If possible, upgrade to Win 2K or Win XP. Why? Well, I have seen this issue before when the RAS configuration is screwed up under Win NT. What is happening is that for that particular dialog, NowSMS is querying RAS to include dial-up networking profiles in one of the selection lists. (If you got a little further, NowSMS also creates RAS profiles in this area.) Unfortunately, RAS is blowing up when we attempt to query it. It's been quite awhile since I worked with Win NT ... I'm just remembering having this same problem with another product under Windows NT in the past. I'm trying to remember what I did to fix it ... I seem to remember that the problem was that I had defined a remote dial-in connection (dial into that NT box), and I think I had to delete that definition as it was causing a problem. Or maybe it was that there was a problem with one of the dial-up networking connections defined on my PC. Check the RAS connections that you have setup on the PC. Delete any that you're not using (or can easily recreate). I'm pretty confident that the problem is somewhere in this area. -bn |
