I am not able to send a MMS with a picture larger than 30kbytes with NowSMS v5.0 and using the MM1 protocol. Does anyone know how to raise this limit? I have included the MMSMessageSizeLimit=### line in the mmsc.ini file but it does not work. Thanks, John

Uncheck "Enable Dynamic Image + Audio Conversion". Below is from Bryce: "It sets the message size to 30K in the notification because many phones will silently reject larger messages without giving any indication to the recipient that anything even happened."

Hi John, Can you clarify your question. Eric's response is good, but it is talking about using NowSMS as the MMSC. I'm wondering if you might be referring to sending MM1 over GPRS. What happens? It might be a limit with either your service provider's MMSC or WAP gateway. -bn

Thanks Eric and Bryce for your messages. I am not using NowSMS as an MMSC. I am connecting to the operator's MMSC via GPRS (ie, MM1 interface) I believe the issue is with NowSMS (or any of the settings) and not the operator as the message is never sent (ie GPRS connection is not initiated) After pressing the submit button on the web interface, I get an okay message but then nothing happens. I have experimented with images ranging from 29k to 31k and it seems the threshold is 30k. Also, including the MMSMessageSizeLimit=### line in the mmsc.ini file did not work, and just in case, I have unchecked "Enable Dynamic Image + Audio Conversion" as Eric mentions. Hope anyone can help. Thanks, John

John, Apologies for the dealy getting back to you. I'd like to follow-up with you directly on this. Enable the debug logs in NowSMS. Manually edit SMSGW.INI, and under the [SMSGW] section header, add Debug=Yes. Edit MMSC.INI, and under the [MMSC] section header, add Debug=Yes. Create a file named MMSWAP.INI in the NowSMS directory, and add the following contents: [MMSWAP] Debug=Yes Restart the NowSMS services. Send your 29KB message. Then send your 31KB message. Wait a few minutes. ZIP the SMSDEBUG.LOG, MMSCDEBUG.LOG and MMSWAPDEBUG.LOG, and e-mail them to nowsms@now.co.uk. Please also reference this thread in the e-mail message so that I can be reminded of what I'm looking at in the logs. -bn |
