Downloading Nokia 6600 Themes

Bryce or anyone - help me ;)

I have som Nokia 6600 themes which i am trying to download to my 6600.
But the phone returns an error.
Nokia 6600 extension is .SIS
I can download other symbian SIS files, but when it comes to 6600 themes the phone returns an error.
However if i open the OPERA browser, i can download the file perfectly.
I have tried 2 mimetypes:
application/x-sis and application/vnd.symbian.install

Am i missing something here?

Hi Lars,

I downloaded a Nokia 6600 theme from http://my.opera.com/community/customize/skins/index.pl?appAndVersion=Nokia+6600 ... and then I sent it to my phone using Multimedia WAP Push from NowSMS.

I was able to download and install the theme without any problem. (I tried the "Lord of the Rings" theme.) The MMSCTYPE.INI sets the content type for ".sis" files to "application/vnd.symbian.install".

For good measure, I tried setting the MIME type to "application/x-sis", and this also worked.

So maybe something else is going on. I take it that you are also not able to download the files from the 6600's built-in browser, but you can from the Opera browser? That is odd. Maybe the problem has something to do with the proxy settings configured for the built-in browser?

Worked for me first time and I had hundereds of problems with downloads via wap.

My Blue tooth head set is acting up everytime I switch on the head set, the phone detects the device but odes not pair with it? after a while an error message "BtUi application closed" appears? what could the matter be????? Please help.

I downloaded mine from the URL referenced above (at my.opera.com). They seem to have a nice collection there.

Where it says "Download this skin" next to a skin, right click in the browser, and copy the shortcut. Then paste the shortcut into Notepad or a word processor.

Then, download that URL from the Nokia 6600.

For example, the Lord of the Rings theme on that page has a URL for download of:

http://my.opera.com/community/customize/skins/skin.cgi?id=1339

Download that URL from the browser in the Nokia 6600 to install that theme.

This doesn't seem to be an easy thing to do ... you can't just take a picture and turn it into a screen saver.

I've seen some sites that sell screen saver applications for the Nokia 6600 ... they are Symbian application files (.sis) that you download to your phone.

There may be other options, but I haven't seen any.

You download them through the browser.
