I have a Globetrotter Icon322 modem from AT&T and have successfully configured the 2-way tab to save MMS messages to the local hard drive C:\Program Files\NowSMS\MMS-IN.

The problem is that I would like to change the path to a server on my LAN which is V:\MMS-IN. While the application lets me change the path in the software after the change is made it no longer processes the MMS messages to the new or the old path.

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

NowSMS runs as a service ... so although the configuration program can see V:\MMS-IN, it is likely that the service cannot.

Use a UNC format path (e.g., \SERVER\PATH) instead of a drive letter, and you should have better luck.

The only other consideration is network user access rights.

By default, when NowSMS installs the service, it runs under the LocalSystem account. You may need to go into the Services applet in the Windows Administrative Tools and configure the NowSMS services to run under a user account that has the ability to access this network path.

When I changed to a UNC path and changed the permissions to the MMS service it started saving the MMS messages to the correct directory on my server.

However, the "View" button on the 2-Way tab of the program is still not working correctly. When I click the button it brings up the contents of the "C:\Program Files\nowsms\mms-in" and not the path to my server "\kthv-vs01\cellphone_media".

I am guessing that you have that path hardcoded into the view function of your program. Is there anyway to make it read the modified path to my server?

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately, that does appear to be a bug.

The view buttons for both the received SMS and MMS messages appear to be hard-coded to the default directory locations.

Our engineering team assures me that this will be fixed in the next release ... but unfortunately I do not have a work-around (other than a file browser like "V" at fileviewer.com).

If you're on Vista or 2008 server, you could probably create a symbolic link. Remove the current MMS-IN directory, then "MKLINK /d MMS-IN \\server\path"
