Hi Bryce,

I would like to have information about NowSMS MMSC: what is the max expiration time for a message (not retrieved) by default on the platform?

And which is the parameter to modify it please?

Thanks!

Hi,

By default, MMS message content is retained for 15 days before it is expired.

To change this timeout, it is necessary to edit MMSC.INI, and under the [MMSC] section header, add DataRetainDays=##, where ## is the number of days for MMS message data to be retained by the system.

By default, the NowSMS MMSC does not generate a non-delivery notification back to the sender when a message is expired. However, they can be enabled with the following setting:

Edit MMSC.INI, and under the [MMSC] header, add NonDeliveryNotificationTimeout=####, where #### is the number of minutes after which to consider a message as being expired.

(Why two different settings? Some systems retain messages for regulatory reasons. The "DataRetainDays" setting applies to both delivered and undelivered messages.)

(Why is one setting expressed in days and the other in minutes? The generation of non-delivery notifications was requested by a handset developer that uses the MMSC for testing. To help them in their tests, they didn't want to have to wait a minimum of 24 hours for the non-delivery notification to be generated.)
