Im using a MC35 with a registered verion of the software and using Orange UK as my operator. Im based in Central Brighton with good signal strength.

I'm primarily using the setup to receive MMS's, but the problem I am having is that sometimes I receive the MMS within seconds of sending it from a phone (Orange to). But other times I get the notification sms, have a 'Q' file in the MMS-IN directory, but it just sits there for hours! (currently I have two with over 80+ retries!!!

I have tried reseting the modem & MMS service but to no avail. The sim in the modem is a contract one with MMS enabled etc.

Any idea on whats causing this?

Philip,

It sounds like a problem is occurring in the GPRS connection, communicating with the modem.

That is odd, because I assume the modem would have to be in working order for the MMS notification to come in over SMS. If the modem wasn't working, we wouldn't see the notification that triggers this connection in the first place.

I'd advise enabling the debug log for the SMS gateway module. Edit SMSGW.INI, and under the [SMSGW] section header, add Debug=Yes. Then restart that service.

An SMSDEBUG.LOG will be produced as the gateway runs. So should this happen again, we can take a look at the SMSDEBUG.LOG, which should provide some clue as to what is occurring.

My MMS is currently not working because Orange are yet to enable it. However, my SIM card was bought off a friend at Uni and now that I've finished, we've lost touch.
To cut a long story short, Orange wont let me activate MMS unless this said friend is present.
Is there any cheats to do it myself, or am i going to have to change number again?

With most operators, MMS needs to be specifically enabled for your account, so I think you're out of luck.
