I have tried to send mms from a gd87 with a picture and some text.

The problem is that the picure is not there.
If i send from gd87 to my N7650 the picture is there.

As you can see in the below SMIL code, there is a REGION created for the picture, but somehow it gets lost in the smilcode further down.

The .hdr file created by nowsms does not have information about any image.

Now if i send a mms from my GD87 with only a picture, then the imagefile is there.

Weird eh?
Not so much fun if u want people to write some funny text along with the picture.

What's odd about this is that the SMIL does not reference the image either.

Also odd is that the "Message-Size:" field in the HDR references that the original size of the binary MMS message file was 25929 bytes, which would seem to suggest an image present. (This is not the size of the actual binary MMS message file that we retrieved, it is one of the headers encoded in the message.)

As fate would have it, I seem to be having some GPRS problems today, so I can't test this. But I would be curious of a couple of things:

1.) Everything is ok with GD87 to N7650. I assume that everything is ok with GD87 to itself as well? (I'm curious because the 7650 doesn't care as much about SMIL.)

2.) Everything is ok with N7650 to NowSMS? (If so, is the N7650 using a SIM from the same operator as the GD87 SIM?)

I'd like to see the binary data. Unfortunately, we don't have a mode that saves the binary file before it is parsed on retrieval.

But if you could do the following ...

Create a file named MMSWAP.INI, and give it the following file content:

Debug=Yes

Then restart the gateway, and recreate this scenario.

E-mail me the MMSWAPDEBUG.LOG file, which should have a recording of the binary message data. I'd like to see the raw data that is coming in to determine when the image is disappearing (at the MMSC, or after download).

Here is answers for your other Q's:

1.) From GD87 to N7650.
if there is more than one picture, example picture + text, or a pageshift, the n7650 says that it cannot display the mms, and i shall choose OBJECTS to see each object, one by one.
but the content is there as it should.
I am aware that Nokia sucks when it comes to SMIL. Panasonic si really the SMIL coder ever ;)


2.) Everything is ok from n7650 to nowsms, and i am using the same simcard, telco etc.

After v5.0 is released, then maybe I'll have time to better figure out the forum software.

In the meantime, GPRS is working again for me ... so I'm going to try sending from the GD87. More to follow.

Hmm ... in your log file, that data is incomplete.

I think we're only receiving the first packet of a WAP multi-packet response. I'd like to see a more complete log. If it's too much to post, go ahead and e-mail it to me (nowsms@now.co.uk).

Meanwhile, I'm going to try some tests myself as well...

Ok. Thanks. I'll look for it.

Out of curiosity, I just sent an MMS message from a GD87 to a Nokia 3650, with an image part and a text part, and it was displayed just fine.

I also sent an MMS message with an image part and text part to a Sierra Wireless Aircard 750 running NowSMS, and it received a SMIL file, a TXT file, and a JPG file.

So I'm wondering what's going on with your system. Hopefully the log file will tell me something.
