Dear Bryce / Keith,

I was wondering if you would be able to point me in the right direciton with configuring NowSMS. We have been using NowSMS for the past 12 months to deliver content from our server and we now wish to utilise the additional functionality of NowSMS, namely the MMSC component!

I spoke with Kieth a couple of weeks ago regarding the upgrade from NowSMS 5.0 to 5.5 and he helped me identify the issues I was experiencing. I have spent the last few days reviewing the discussion boards and have found a number of interesting threads but I am still having issues.

I simply want to be able to send and retrieve MMS messages via my GPRS modem (we have a USB Twist modem from Falcom, based on the siemens MC35 architecture) with an Optus Australia SIM card, which is MMS, enabled in the modem.

I have created the MMSWAP.ini file and set debugging to YES. However I am unable to send or recieve MMS messages between the phone and the server. The log file contains the following info:

2004-07-04 12:16:09,MMSRETRIEVE,61.8.3.29,,,20040704/12/40E3F30Ba.MMS,OK,16928
2004-07-04 12:19:35,MMSRETRIEVE,61.8.3.29,,,20040704/12/40E3F30Fa.MMS,OK,16876
2004-07-04 12:20:03,MMSIN,127.0.0.1,ol,0423769746,20040704/12/DABC54C7,38101DC6.req,16904
2004-07-04 13:28:51,MMSRETRIEVE,61.8.3.29,,,20040704/13/40E3F317a.MMS,OK,16876

I am sure I am missing some fundamental steps so if you could please let me know what they might be that would much appreciated! I have tried to email you at nowsms@now.co.uk but the mail simply bounces back (even though you have emailed from that address before!)

Regards,
Oliver

Hi Oliver,

Apologies for the delay in responding to your message here, we fell behind on the discussion board and some messages fell through the cracks. (And we did have problems with our mail server over the weekend of July 3, so that may be why you had problems sending e-mail.)

Those log files look like NowSMS is configured to attempt to perform direct delivery of MMS messages over SMS and WAP. Depending on your operator, that may or may not work.

It sounds like you want to connect to your operator MMSC over GPRS.

But it definitely looks like NowSMS is trying to do direct delivery.

I assume you've defined the MM1/GPRS route under "MMSC Routing", and made that the default?

One thing that can trip people up ... make sure that you do not have any phone numbers defined in the "MMSC Users" list. For any numbers in that list, NowSMS will always attempt direct delivery, and will ignore the "MMSC Routing" information.
